Dusk Motion provided the challenge to design a timeless table lamp and house a pre-developed artificial intelligence which could improve the home lighting experience. A lighting piece to save energy, predicts user daily habits, and connects with other IOT devices. A design to embrace high craft rather than high tech and to blend into the domestic environment.

Taking the preferred concept for further CAD refinements to explore the best fabrication process and find the magical ratio between shade, legs and base proportions.
Building full scale mockups, 3D printing parts and starting conversation with our electronic engineer to include the chipset in the base design.
Sharing drawings with the marble manufacture to fabricate a series of machined marble bases for evaluation and final sample. Cast metal legs and made the shade in NYC for the prototype.
After this first prototype and making the needed refinements, I start conversation with the manufacturer in Asia for the first tooling samples and try different electro plating finishes for potential color variations.
