Smart Mirror

Brynn approached me with this exciting project - a smart fitness mirror. The task was to jump on board after she produced a rough first prototype. The goal was to define an overall aesthetic and create an accessory for the mirror that allows the product to be mounted in a freestanding configuration. The design language needed to blend in the home decor. When off, it’s a full-length mirror. When on, you see yourself, your instructor and your classmates in a sleek, interactive display, complete with embedded camera and speakers.

At this stage the focus was on reducing visual sharpness and size. Overall height and width needed to shrink after the first prototype that was fabricated. The third concept was picked for the second round of prototype. It offers a constant thickness and an easier metal sheet construction for the frame.

The stand appearance should complement the mirror, appeal to the intended target market, and blend with the home decor. It supports the mirror (approx weight of 34kg). Below the chosen direction.

Refinements were made after finding a new vendor for the display and switching to square corner allowing the mirror to look less device and more mirror for an home environment.
